St. Julien Weather Vane Attributed to J.W. Fiske 19th Century Full Bodied Metal


St. Julien with Sulky Molded Copper Weather Vane, attributed to J.W. Fiske, New York, last quarter 19th century, full-bodied molded sheet copper horse and driver vane with cast iron horse’s head and driver’s hands, sheet copper reins and seat, copper rod wheels, mounted on a ebony base. This has the original threading as seen in the last photo below. A very similar Attrib Fiske Weathervane sold in Skinners American Furniture an Decorative Arts Sale 2337 Lot 253 for $23,500 Literature: Literature: A similar weather vane is pictured in J.W. Fiske 1893 Illustrated Catalogue, reproduced by Dover in 1971, on p. 3. Another similar weather vane is illustrated in The Art of the Weathervane, by Steve Miller, Schiffer Publishing, Pennsylvania, p. 32.
